But listen to Michala Petri kick the living shit out of this allegro movement from a Telemann recorder suite:

Wooooooooo that rocked. I was banging my head back and forth like Wayne and Garth going for a lazy drive in a Gremlin.

I think Telemann, along with Albinoni, are two of the more under appreciated Baroque composers. Telemann wrote by fa one of the best Baroque trumpet concertos. Albinoni also wrote an oboe concerto that I play regularly on piccolo trumpet. Great stuff.

That is Gould-level speed, and I admire that. I got the Bach 2-part Invention up to Gould speed 15 or so years ago, but no piano now, so it’s done.

Bach and Telemann lived in the same street, I believe in Leipzig - the former had trouble getting work, and the latter was rich and had patrons. Oh how time proves out the truth.
